Garden Grove

About Us

Guests will feel as if they have been transported to the tranquil gardens of Central Park after stepping into the Garden Grove restaurant in the Walt Disney World Swan Resort.   The centerpiece of this unique restaurant is a beautiful 25-foot oak tree, adorned with twinkling lights and paper lanterns, a true spectacle for diners.

During the day, families can feast in the park-like atmosphere while bright sunlight from the restaurant’s tall windows illuminates the room. In the evening, the lights are dimmed and the oak tree centerpiece shimmers while guests dine under street lamps in a dreamy nighttime garden setting.

On different evenings, we feature buffet menu themes including Old South, Italian, Fisherman’s Wharf and Backyard Barbecue. On Italian night, guests can enjoy customized pasta dishes and pizzas. For the Backyard Barbecue evening, rotisserie chicken pairs well with fresh grilled pineapple, baked potatoes and other treats. Fisherman’s Wharf is a popular theme with grilled mahi mahi, snow crab legs, New England clam chowder and other fresh offerings. The Old South buffet pops with Louisiana-style blackened chicken, fresh salsa, beer-braised sausage and more.

Experience creative American cuisine at Garden Grove for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.  The young at heart will also enjoy Disney character dining at dinner nightly and for breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays.

Meet the Chef

Shannon Murray
Executive Chef

Shannon MurrayShannon Murray is the executive chef of Garden Grove at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort, where she oversees food production, quality control and a culinary team of more than 20. Located inside the Walt Disney World Swan, Garden Grove is a casual dining restaurant that features character dining at rotating themed dinner buffets and weekend breakfast buffets. Garden Grove is set in a park-like atmosphere with a 25-foot oak tree as its centerpiece.

Since becoming executive chef in August 2008, Chef Murray and her team have created new themed menus to include Mediterranean fare and Southern barbecue. Not only does Murray oversee seasonal menu changes at Garden Grove, but her responsibilities also include the Walt Disney World Swan’s room service, breakfast buffet and a la carte menus for both breakfast and lunch.

A graduate of the Florida Culinary Institute in West Palm Beach, Fla., Murray began her career as a cook at Garden Grove in 1998.

During that time, she trained at the Walt Disney World Dolphin in techniques for cold food preparation, including fruit and cheese platters, garnishes and salads. In 2000, Murray further developed her skills as a cook at The Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers. Two years later she became head line cook at Shula’s Steak House in Times Square, New York.

In 2005, Murray returned to the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort as a cook at Todd English’s bluezoo. She was promoted to junior sous chef in 2007.

When the resort’s Cabana Bar and Beach Club opened in early 2008, Murray opened the poolside restaurant as sous chef, creating the new menu and overseeing kitchen production and training of culinary staff before assuming her current role at Garden Grove.
